Meet your fellow CopyStar
Hiya CopyStar!
Are you enjoying the opportunity to get a real writing sample from Showcase Saturday? I sure hope so! Because this invitation is only available to my CopyStar readers. So don’t miss out – show me what you got! Today’s showcase submission is from Helen Chang. Helen shares the pivotal moment that helped CLOBBER her fear as a newbie! And let me tell you… … Helen opened MY eyes to an opportunity I needed to jump on as a copywriter! Take it away Helen… “Queen of Controls” Takes Social Media Tips from a Copywriting Newbie – and RUNS with it! Hi CopyStar, Ever felt like you have a HUGE mountain-like obstacle in your career… … and you’re scared straight about it?
That happened to me recently when A-list copywriter Carline Anglade-Cole not only liked what I shared with her – but recommend I tell her CopyStar tribe about it too. You see – I’m just a stay-at-home mom… with a part-time job… and very little copywriting experience. So – I never felt like I had much to offer – especially to an A-list copywriter.
Which is why initially I shied away from the idea of even emailing the “Queen of Controls” but… … that all changed when the EPIC Clayton Makepeace Tribute aired.
There were so many golden nuggets – I couldn’t wait to watch it again! Then when Carline started posting the Tribute on YouTube… the light bulb went off in my head!
I knew something this awesome NEEDED to be seen by as many eyes as possible. I faced my inflated fear. And then emailed Carline explaining why turning Clayton’s tribute into a playlist could boost views on YouTube! To my surprise… … not only did she really appreciate my advice but… … her team got working on it right away! And Carline loved my other YouTube suggestions too! So on Carline’s request… I want to share with you…
10 Great Tips to Help You Get Noticed on YouTube – FAST! Tip #1 – Show YouTube you’re reliable! The more you release videos – the more YouTube prioritizes them. (Hint: magic number is to release videos at least 3 times a week.)
Tip #2 – Never underestimate the Power of Predictability! Release new videos at the same time and day of the week. Make it easy for viewers to add you into their routine – so they know there’s value coming from you! Tip #3 – Oh hey – I remember you! Pick a style for your thumbnail and stick to it! Give it the same look and feel as your other videos! Use similar background color and font. And add a logo on the bottom of each video! This creates your brand.
Tip #4 – Less is more! Thumbnails are just as important as titles – so keep ‘em simple and punchy! A proven method is to use 33% of the space for your face. That gets you recognized fast and builds trust! (Here are some specs: Resolution 16:9, Aspect ratio 1280 x 720)
Tip #4 – Be easy to find! Add channel keywords and individual video keywords! Tip #5 – Grab ‘em by the eyeballs! Research for SEO! Come up with a killer title that tells your viewer exactly what to expect! And by all means – keep your titles to less than 120 characters!
Tip #6 – Make ’em Binge! Strategically create content to form a playlist. Playlists compile keywords from all videos in the list so you can show up multiple times when people search! And DON’T FORGET – for playlists and autoplay videos – keep ‘em around 3-10 videos!
Tip #7 – Yell Like a Town Crier! Share your channel, playlists and videos in all social media platforms like Facebook… Instagram… LinkedIn… Twitter… Pinterest… etc.
Tip #8 – Keep Your Competitors Close! What video is the most popular? What hashtags do they use? Put your OWN spin on a video with the same topic!
Tip #9 – Read to Lead! Even pros take this for granted! Check out the most popular comments in your videos and your competitors. This gives you insight on what viewers enjoy! And that means you get MORE video content ideas! Tip #10 – Trending topics BOOSTS views – but it won’t last long! Trending topics work great to grab your viewer’s attention. But if you want to KEEP his interest – then make sure your content stays fresh – evergreen! There you have it! Now go get noticed! Helen Chang P.S. Was your mountain-like obstacle like mine? You had a good idea but felt like you didn’t have enough experience to share? Maybe you thought “what could you offer that someone else isn’t better at?” Remember – a helping spirit is not in everyone’s nature! So – reach out with honest intentions – not seeking anything in return. Because the feeling of helping others is reward enough.
– End –
