Hiya CopyStar!
Want to know how to stand out in this CRAZY copywriting biz?
In my 23+ years as a copywriter – I’ve learned powerful secrets to write killer copy… get winning controls… and gain financial freedom! And you can too!
In fact – I’m going to give you one of the proven and winning strategies I shared with the folks attending the AWAI Virtual Bootcamp last week. And guess what?
If you’re a newbie…
… learn this savvy tip and use it now. It will save a lot of time and frustration later.
And if you’re an experienced writer…
… And you’re not using this strategy – get your butt in gear and incorporate it into your repertoire and you’ll create powerful copy!
So here’s my EXTRAordinary strategy:
Talk – don’t just write! I’d love to start a movement to change the title “copywriter” to “copytalker”! Why?
Because when you hear what you write – you’re having a conversation in print!
And whether you write copy for print or online – your conversation needs to be personal.
That means you write to ONE person. Don’t ever forget it!
For example…
… when I’m competing with a copywriter and I see the control starts with “Dear Friends” – I know I can beat the pants off that sales copy!
Why?
If the copywriter is using “Dear Friends” – most likely, the rest of his copy is talking to a group of people. That means it’s lacking a personal touch and his copy is probably vague. Remember: Vagueness = Death of a sales letter!
A simple “Dear friend” – singular – can work! Or even “Dear health-conscious friend”… “Dear concerned neighbor” or any type of salutation that would fit your demographic.
Then make sure your letter continues to talk to one person. Not we. Not our. But YOU and YOUR!
And think about how you talk. You aren’t writing a term paper – you’re having a one-on-one conversation.
So if you’re conscious of how you talk – you’ll write better copy.
But how do you know if your copy sounds natural? Do this simple trick: READ YOUR COPY OUT LOUD.
If the copy sounds choppy or awkward – it is! So fix it!
If you confuse your reader – you lose credibility and your masterpiece will end up in the trash. So let me say it again – READ YOUR COPY OUT LOUD.
I guarantee you will catch problems in your copy when you hear what you write!
Yours for stellar results,
