Announcing my retirement

Hiya CopyStar!

I was recently Zoom-ing with a bunch of my friends and we started talking about retirement plans.

Some couldn’t wait to quit their jobs to start doing what they REALLY wanted to do.

Many had plans for volunteering… doing disaster relief work… traveling… and flat out NOT working anymore!

Then someone said, “What about you Carline, when do you plan to retire?” And it really got me thinking.

Many of my friends wanted to stop working at jobs in order to pursue other more meaningful goals.

They were… in essence… fulfilling the definition of “retirement” according to the Oxford dictionary and Investopedia.com:

Retirement: the action or fact of leaving one’s job and ceasing to work… the time of life when one chooses to permanently leave the workforce behind.”

This was a real “eye opener” for me. Why?

Because I just realized that I’ve been “retired” for well over 15 years! And I didn’t even know it!

Over 22 years ago – I left Corporate America and hung out my copywriting shingles.

And while it took several years to build up a reputation and track record to give me a comfortable income…

…I had left the grind of a work force behind.

And I definitely “ceased working!”

I mean – what I do is not “work” – it’s FUN!

I control my time.

I choose the people I want to let into my life.

I create value for folks who shut their pie holes and listen to me.

And I don’t wake up dreading to go to the office.

In fact – many times – my “office” is my comfy bed!

I also take off whenever I want.

The only thing that stopped me from my 3-month goal of traveling last year was COVID-19.

It was not a boss unwilling to give me the time off. Not a struggle to finance the trip. And not a fear that I won’t have a “job” when I got back!

So dang! I guess I’m really RETIRED!

And as a retiree – I’m enjoying passing on my knowledge and experience to the young whipper snappers who want to break into copywriting!

I say “young” but I do know many of you are my age and older – creating 2nd and even 3rd careers because you WANT to! Kudos to you!

And because I’m “retired” – I’m not worried about competition.

I don’t have to keep my secrets for creating kick-butt sales copy closely guarded. I can willingly share them with you – to help you reach your “retirement” goals too!

That’s what I’m doing when I create all these new YouTube series on my channel!

Dang! I may have to tap into my retirement nest egg to cover that bill! But that’s ok – I will do it when they deliver winners!

So instead of sitting on my rocking chair on the front porch enjoying my golden years of retirement…
