When my kids were younger – they knew if they asked me for a raise in their allowance – the answer would be an automatic NO.
But they also knew that if they wrote me a letter. With a headline. A good lead. A few bullets…
… well they had a 90% chance of getting a YES response!
So why did I put my kids through this torture? For 3 reasons:
- Reason #1: I didn’t want to pay them more money. So this process would weed out the serious from the superficial.
- Reason #2: I wanted them to see the power of a letter. How to get your point across on the written page.
- Reason #3: I was secretly hoping they would develop my love of writing.
How did I do?
Well…
Daughter #1 – Milan De Her is a copywriter and copy chief with over 15 years of experience writing direct mail and online copy.
She helped launch some really great and successful businesses along the way.
